THE PERFECT WEEKEND IN LA

THE PERFECT WEEKEND IN LA

I grew up all over the country, but have always considered Los Angeles to be home. Now living in Phoenix, I find myself frequently the tourist as I continue exploring a city I have always loved, using each visit as a chance to explore new restaurants and hotels. However this trip was BEYOND special, as you may have already seen on social media Erik proposed to me. It has been surreal. What made it next level though was some of my closest friends were in town so I got to share it with them. In a world full of staged moments and produced photos it was magical to experience such a beautifully unscripted moment. As we move into this new phase of our relationship I am thrilled to announce that the story of our proposal will be featured on How They Asked and we will be partnering with The Knot to share the journey as we plan our wedding. More to come on this VERY soon.

But for now, lets get back to the rest of our trip! We got in to town around 1:30pm and met up with one of my favorite humans (@heybeccahey) at one of finest purveyors of pasta in all the land (Cento Pasta Bar). I discovered this spot last month while researching new restaurants before Erik’s birthday trip. My favorites from both trips are shown above; Pumpkin Tortellini with Brown Butter and Gnocchi Gorgonzola with Balsamic Glazed Figs. I know…I’ll give you a minute. For more from Cento check out blog coverage from our last visit. Needless to say it was an incredible way to start our trip, but after five hours in the car and all the pasta we were ready to relax at the hotel.

For this visit our friends at Ghost Media invited us to stay at Hotel Figueroa. I hadn’t been since the remodel and the property has undergone a major renovation. They’ve maintained all the vintage details while updating the decor with fabulous furnishings, modern amenities and perfectly prepared dirty martinis. The beautiful space provides endless grammable opportunities, several of which we seized on (see above). While we didn’t make it to any Laker Games this trip, the property is directly across the street from LA Live and Staples Center. The location was ideal for this trip as we spent time in West Hollywood and Silverlake; DTLA is conveniently located between the two.

I have to add that brunch at Veranda, located inside Hotel Figueroa was so wonderfully LA. The open air space overlooks the hotel’s gorgeous pool. Even in the middle of winter, it was sunny and beautiful, perfect t-shirt weather. I feel like Erik and I are always eating parfaits when we travel, but no joke…this was one of the best I’ve ever had. I low key wish I had one right now. The rest of our meal was also delicious, we had the Breakfast Sandwich and the Pear Salad. Also if you’re into Gin & Tonics, do yourself a favor and order one without asking any questions. You’re welcome ;)

We ventured to West Hollywood to check out Conservatory. The new space is modern, but comfortable, with every detail looked after down to the hardware in the perfectly lit bathrooms. We were a hungry party of five and ordered basically everything on the menu. While we enjoyed everything, I strongly recommend trying the Tomato Soup, Filet Mignon and Ice Cream Sandwiches. Perfect spot for friends or a date you want to impress.

I am so full of food…AND gratitude. This trip really reminded me of how fortunate I am to have so much love in my life. One of the best parts was wrapping up the entire weekend at a glorious dinner with my OG girls and Erik of course. For more check out the blog featuring our family dinner at OPENAIRE. I know it sounds cliche to say that it was a perfect weekend, but it was. We ate all the best food, got to see some of my favorite people and I got engaged. Thank you for supporting Erik and I by continuing to read this blog and by following us on social media. It means everything to us and we can’t wait to share the next adventure with you.
